    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an output control device of an internal combustion engine which can certainly control the engine speed and the engine output without increasing torque shock when an intake-air adjustment means is out of order.
      SOLUTION: The output control device of an internal combustion engine comprises the intake-air adjustment means which adjusts the amount of intake air supplied to a combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine, a fuel adjustment means which adjusts the amount of fuel supplied to the combustion chamber, and an operating condition detecting means which detects the operating condition. The output control device further comprises a control means. Based on the output from the operating condition detecting means, the control means controls the intake-air adjustment means so that stratified combustion may be performed within a range of a first air-fuel ratio leaner than the theoretical air-fuel ratio in a first operation region, and controls the intake-air adjustment means and the fuel adjustment means so that premixed combustion may be performed within a range of a second air-fuel ratio. The output control device furthermore comprises an abnormality correspondence means which controls the fuel adjustment means so that the stratified combustion may be performed even in a second operation region when the intake-air adjustment means is judged to be abnormal under such a condition that the intake air can be introduced through the intake-air adjustment means.
