    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow the suppression of the fluctuation in the quantity of generated X rays even if an electron beam emitted by a linear accelerator changes in energy.SOLUTION: An X-ray generator 10 comprises: an electron gun 12 operable to generate an electron beam; a linear accelerator 14 operable to accelerate, by means of micro waves, the electron beam generated by the electron gun 12; an X-ray target 16 which generates X rays when being irradiated with the electron beam accelerated by the linear accelerator 14; a micro wave generator operable to generate the micro waves introduced by the linear accelerator 14; and a pulse modulator operable to control the micro wave generator so as to change the electric power of the micro waves. The linear accelerator 14 has a plurality of buncher cavities 40 and therefore, even if an electron which deviates from the acceleration phase as a result of the reduction of the micro wave electric power arises, the electron can be accelerated with an acceleration phase in a subsequent period of time and as such, the reduction in the intensity of the electron beam to be emitted is suppressed.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce leaking radiation or production cost.
      SOLUTION: A passage 6 connecting an irradiation room 5 and an exterior 10 is provided with a first linear part 11-1 and a second linear part 11-2 and a bending part 12. A three-dimensional region 34, which can be seen directly from the first point 33-1 at the end opposite to the bending part 12 of the first linear part 11-1 and directly from the second point 33-2 at the end opposite to the bending part 12 of the second linear part 11-2, does not cross a curved wall 14 forming the bending part 12. The irradiation device 1 of this invention can reduce radiation leaking the exterior 10 by way of the passage 6 without adding the bending part 12.
