    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner being inexpensive and simple but highly precise in detection, prediction of remaining life of an electric motor from the detection result, and informing of the result without providing a bypass filter for extracting noise components, without requiring integration of a value detected by an A/D converter with an integrator, or without requiring a high conversion speed of the A/D converter when detecting motor current with the A/D converter.
      SOLUTION: An output of a current detecting means 31 for measuring the motor current is sampled by an A/D converter 33 for a prescribed number of times, for example, just once from a zero cross of commercial power supply voltage every half cycle of a commercial power 1 at a prescribed timing T so as to measure a motor current value at a prescribed phase angle without sampling noise components only. A remaining life of an electric motor 2 is predicted from a difference between the last data and the previous data of a detected value of the sampled current and size of a determination level to notify of information on the life.
