    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique of a defrosting device preventing a useless defrosting operation in a cooler of a cooling unit for a freezer.SOLUTION: Defrosting heaters 4 are divided into two groups, defrosting heaters 41 of a large number group are horizontally and dispersedly installed by being brought into contact with end faces of plate fins on an air suction side 21 in a cooler 3, and defrosting heaters 42 of a small number group are horizontally installed by being brought into lower end faces of the plate fins on an air blowing side 22 in the cooler 3. A heat exchange plate of a defrosting finish thermostat mounting tool 6 is mounted in heat transfer pipes on an upper side of the cooler 3, and a temperature detection section of a defrosting finish thermostat 5 is mounted to be brought into contact with a thermostat installation plate of the defrosting finish thermostat mounting tool 6. Accordingly, the defrosting finish thermostat 5 detects that there no frost in the cooler 3 without time delay and is capable of finishing the defrosting operation to prevent a useless defrosting operation.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling device that can reduce heating by an unnecessary heater not involved in defrosting.SOLUTION: This cooling device 1 for cooling the inside to a temperature of a refrigerating zone, includes an evaporator 3, a fan 6, one or a plurality of outlet-side heaters 11 disposed at an air outlet side of the evaporator 3, one or a plurality of inlet-side heaters 10 disposed at an air inlet side of the evaporator 3, an optical frost formation sensor 7, and a control part 12 for executing a defrosting operation for removing frost attached to the evaporator 3. The optical frost formation sensor 7 is disposed only at the air outlet side of the evaporator 3. In defrosting operation, the control part 12 operates the outlet-side heater 11 and the inlet-side heater 10 when the attachment of frost to the air outlet side of the evaporator 3 is detected by the optical frost formation sensor 7, and operates only the inlet-side heater 10 when the attachment of frost to the air outlet side of the evaporator 3 is not detected by the optical frost formation sensor 7.
