    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a voltage-type inverter controller capable of stably executing re-start control of an AC electromechanical apparatus after stopping, without generating overcurrent or overvoltage. SOLUTION: A voltage command operating means 6 generates voltage commands Vd2, Vq2 for operation stop to reduce the residual voltage of an inducer 1, on the basis of the detection value of current supplied to the inducer 1, when a conversion operation of a power converter 2 is stopped. When a first stopping signal is input, a voltage command switching means 9 switches the command from the voltage commands Vd1, Vq1 for usual operation to the voltage command Vd2, Vq2. A stop delay means 8 gives the power converter 2 a second stopping signal, obtained by delaying the first stop signal by a predetermined time to make the power converter 2 stop.       SOLUTION: The controller for electric vehicle performs vector control with a plurality of three-phase induction motors 2-5 driven by a variable voltage variable frequency inverter 1, that converts a DC power into arbitrary AC power. It comprises a first current detecting means 12 that detects the entire current of a plurality of induction motors 2-5; second current detecting means 14-17 for detecting the phase current of a prescribed single phase of each of induction motors 2-5; a torque command generating means 18 which generates a torque command value, by converting the current of each phase into an effective value; and then calculating a torque correction value from a deviation between a maximum current of the effective value and a minimum current of the effective value; and further subtracting the torque correction value from a reference torque value of the induction motors 2-5, and a torque control means 6 for instructing the variable voltage variable frequency inverter 1 with a torque signal, which makes the total current detected with the first current detecting means 14-17 agree with the torque command value.
