    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a square battery having reduced internal resistance, an excellent battery capacity, and battery characteristics.
      SOLUTION: An electrode group having a mixture layer on a core material is formed by winding a cathode plate and an anode plate having a conductive end edge having a core material exposing part either on an upper end face or a lower end face through a separator, and the conductive end edge of the cathode plate and that of the anode plate extrude in directions different from each other, upward and downward. The electrode group of a square cross section, having current collection elements welded at the respective conductive end edges, is stored in a square case in a manner that a long side (H) of the face of the case having a maximum area coincides with a vertical direction length of the electrode group. A ratio H/W as a ratio of the long side (H) of the face of the case to a short side (W) thereof satisfies formula (1), 1.94≤H/W≤3.49.
