CONSTITUTION:A video signal is delayed by one-horizontal period delaying devices 2 and 3, and filter circuits 4-6 separate the video signal into a low-band video signal consisting of only a low-band luminance signal and a high-band video signal including a high-band luminance signal and a carrier chrominance signal. A correlation deciding circuit 10 outputs the signal indicating which of the non-delayed signal and the output from the delay device 3 the output from the delay device 2 have closer correlations to, and the separated carrier chrominance signal is selected and outputted in accordance with the output from a threshold circuit 12 by a switching circuit 11. A differentiating circuit 13 secondarily differentiates the low-band video signal from filter circuits 4-6 to extract the of contour a pattern. Interpolating circuits 16 and 17 substitute separated luminance signal and carrier chrominance signal with interpolating values obtained from preceding and following values, where degradation does not occur, in accordance with the output of AND circuit 15 if the noticed sample point is on the contour part of the pattern and has not correlations in the vertical direction.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the effect of the noise to a picture surface by separating luminance signals and chrominance signals from each other so as to be in keeping with human visual sense by providing proper weighting to the correlated values with near-by pixels and by adjudging the correlation in consideration of the hystory of an already determined correlation. CONSTITUTION:High band video signals are supplied to a terminal 1 and the correlated values of the luminance the chrominance signal with near-by pixels are computed in correlated value computing circuits 2-9. The correlated values between the luminance and the chrominance signals are weighted at a multiplier 10 so as to fit to the human visual sense. Further the weighting is effected among the output of the correlated value computing circuit in accordance with the position of the picture element thereof. As to these correlated values, the information concerning the picture element position that gives the smallest value of the sum of the correlated values of the laminance and the chrominance signals is outputted at a correlation and noise discriminating circuit 11. The least correlated value already discriminated is stored in a memory 12 and the mean value is calculated in an aveaging circuit 26. When the least correlated value discriminated by the circuit 11 is remarkably different from the input from the averaging circuit 26, a judgment is given as the contamination of noise. The average of the whole outputs of the comb line filters 13 to 22 is calculated and outputted at a switching and averaging circuit 21.

In a case that the signal levels of continuous frames increases or decreases uniformly, and a case that the correlation between a remarked frame and the preceding and succeeding frames is recognized, but no correlation between the preceding and the succeeding frames is recognized, the correlation is decided by the correlation decision circuit 19, and the outputs of a plural chrominance signals separation circuit is switched by a decided result.

CONSTITUTION:Signals for 3 horizontal lines are prepared in 3H.Delay 3, and an (l-1) line signal is outputted to a signal line 5, an (l) line signal is outputted to a signal line 6 and an (l+1) line signal is outputted to a signal line 7. An interrelation judging circuit 8 judges which is stronger interrelation between sample points of (l) line and (l-1) line and between sample points of (l) line and (l+1) line and outputs the result. The smoothing circuit 11 outputs a number only when the number indicating position of sample points outputted by the interrelation judging circuit is the same number continuously for more than a certain period. In the case where the continuation of the same number is less than the period, outputting is not made since the number is due to erroneous judgment, and a number outputted immediate before is outputted.

Further, the correlative values PES1 and DES1 are weighted on the basis of the difference between brightness based upon visual characteristics of human beings and the sensitivity of colors. Then, a correlation and noise deciding circuit 17 selects the smallest value among outputs of respective correlation circuits l1-n which are weighted by a multiplying circuit 12 and the number code l of the picture element Gl is outputted to a switch circuit 20.

The level error is detected 20 from the level of the pedestal part detected by a detector 19 and the reference level and converted 21 into a digital signal, which is subtracted 11 from the signal 10.
