    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing silage intended for effectively using the parent taro part of taro which is not used for food and wasted, as poultry/livestock feed. SOLUTION: This method for preparing the excellent silage which has high nutritive value and high palatability of poultry/livestock comprises using as the main raw material parent taro after collecting daughter tuber as an edible part from taro, adding yoghurt to the material followed by lactic fermenting, and anaerobically storing the product in a container with airtightness for a fixed period, or performing fermentation and storage in a slightly aerobical excellent condition. A method for bringing food industry waste to livestock feed comprises using taro silage as a fermentation ground substance so as to effectively use as mixed silage with food industry waste.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new lactic acid bacteria having excellent acid tolerance, to provide a microbial formulation comprising the new lactic acid bacteria, and having excellent animal and vegetable assimilability, and to provide a method for producing a feed and a fertilizer using the microbial formulation comprising the new lactic acid bacteria. SOLUTION: The new lactic acid bacterial strains Lactobacillus plantarum ST2 strain (NITEP-509), and Lactobacillus plantarum ST11 strain (NITEP-510) are provided. The strains have the strong acid tolerance. When the microbial formulation comprising the bacterial strains is used for producing a livestock feed, the resultant sample reaches the intestines without being decomposed with gastric juice to have excellent intestinal control functions. Both have an excellent lactic acid fermenting ability, easily convert a vegetable material such as aroid (Colocasia antiquorum) into silage, and garbage comprising animal and vegetable food residues into a fertilizer and a feed, and have high assimilating efficiency.
