    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for measuring an improved diameter, capable of correctly and easily measuring the diameter of an improved element.
      SOLUTION: The measuring device 1 for an improved diameter for measuring the diameter of an improved element K produced by ejecting a hardening material into ground G to be mixed and stirred therein, comprises a casing 2 penetrated into the ground G, a rod-shaped member 3 which is inserted into the casing 2 with its bottom end part extending in the horizontal direction from the inside of the casing 2 and being penetrated into or brought into contact with the boundary surface between the improved element K and an unimproved natural ground, a delivery device 4 for penetrating the rod-shape member 3 into the boundary surface or bringing it into contact with the boundary surface, a detection sensor 5 which is provided to the tip end part of the rod-shaped member 3 and detects at least one of the load change, temperature change or PH change on the boundary surface, and a measuring means for measuring the diameter of the improved element K based on the amount of penetration into the improved element K in the horizontal direction of the rod-shaped member 3 when the boundary surface is confirmed with the detection sensor 5.
