In this case, the kind of thread supplied to the taking-up unit 11 is changed over by carrying out the doffing by the doffing dolly successively for a number of taking-up units 11. Accordingly, the supply of thread to the taking-up unit 11 by a tray circulation type conveyor and the discharge from the taking-up unit are carried out successively by successively carrying out the doffing of the doffing dolly, not in random form, and the generation of the mixed state of the kinds is prevented.

The dummy trays 3E are discharged all together, whereby simultaneous change can be conducted.
