    • PURPOSE:Carbon yarn useful as primary structural material for airplane, fishing rod, golf shaft, etc., having a filament diameter in a specific range, >=specific values of strand strength, modulus of elasticity of strand, and density, respectively, satisfying high elasticity and high strength simultaneously. CONSTITUTION:The desired yarn having 1-6mu filament diameter, >=430kg/mm. strand strength, >=28ton/mm. modulus of elasticity of strand, and >=1.76g/cm density. In order to prepare the yarn, acrylic yarn having 0.1-1.1 denier of single filament denier is used, and the yarn is subjected to flame-resistant treatment usually in air at 200-350 deg.C. In the operation, the yarn is provided with >=10% elongation before the density of it reaches 1.22g/cm , and contraction after that is suppressed to complete the flame-resistant treatment. The yarn is provided with >=5% elongation, and subjected to the first carbonization treatment in an inert gas atmosphere at 300-800 deg.C. Then, the yarn is successively subjected to the second carbonization treatment in an inert atmoshere at 1,300-1,600 deg.C under tension for several tens sec - several min.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting cover which is lighter than existing lighting covers made of milky glass or opal glass, has milky glass or opal glass tone appearance and texture with high-class feeling, and has high light transmittance, and to provide its manufacturing method.
      SOLUTION: In this lighting cover, a laminate 1 comprises a light diffusing layer 2 composed of resin composition where a light diffusing agent contained is 0.5 parts by weight or more and 40 parts by weight or less against 100 parts by weight of transparent resin, a transparent resin layer 3 composed of transparent resin, and a matting layer 4 containing the light diffusing agent. In the relative arrangement of each layer, the light diffusing layer 2 is arranged on the nearest side to an illumination source, and then the transparent resin layer 3 and the matting layer 4 are arranged in this order so as to be away from the illumination source, and thus the transmission and diffusion of light emitting from the illumination source are controlled.

    • PURPOSE: Preoxidized fibers resulting from treating acrylonitrile synthetic fibers so that they reach a specific density are heat-treated in 2 stages under tension in an inert atmosphere, then the temperature is further raised and heat treatment is effected to produce the titled fibers of remarkably increased tensile strength.
