    • PURPOSE:To miniaturize a joining device and to shorten joining time by forming the rear end part of a preceding rolled stock and the tip part of the following rolled stock into an approximately rectangular projecting and recessed parts which are mutually fitted in and executing finish rolling after these projecting and recessed parts are mutually combined in the same plane as the rolling line. CONSTITUTION:The rear end part of the preceding rolled stock 1 after rough rolling and the tip part of the following rolled stock 6 are joined and finish rolling is continuously executed. The rear end part of the preceding rolled stock is cut at a cutting line 3 avoiding the crop part 2. The shape of the rear end part after cutting is made into a shape that the recessed part 4 and project part 5 are continued. Also the tip part of the following rolled stock is cut into the similar shape and formed into approximately rectangular projecting and recessed parts 4, 5 which are mutually fitted in. After these projecting and recessed parts are mutually combined in the same plane as the rolling line, they are joined by executing finish rolling. In this way, the miniaturization of the joining device and shortening of joining time can be realized.

    • PURPOSE:To execute the grinding work of stability by installing the rotary shaft of a grinder shifting from the rotary shaft of the roll by the amt. of offset and setting the relation between the amt. of offset and the dimension of the grinder in a specified relation at the time of grinding the roll without driving the grinder forcibly. CONSTITUTION:In a frame which is able to move back and forth along the axial line OR of a work roll 1 plural grinder holders 6 pushing the grinder 3 set at its end part on the roll surface are arranged in the axial direction of the roll. The above grinder is set in the above holder with its rotary shaft inclined to the roll axial direction against the perpendicular line on the roll surface and with its rotary shaft 4 shifted by the amt. of the offset H from the rotary shaft line of the above roll. On the method of grinding the above roll without forcedly driving the grinder, the relation of the amt. of offset H and dimensions of grinder D, d is set within the range of equation I and equation II, and therefore the grinding work of stability is executed without generating cracking of the grindstone, the bad vibration and the baking, etc.

    • PURPOSE:To flatly roll the rolling materials of various kinds of sizes and materials without requiring roll spares of multiple kinds of crown amounts by loosely fitting offcentered sleeves to both side parts and central parts of the backup rolls of the 4-stage rolling mill and providing rotating devices for controlling of the rates of offcenter to the roll bodies. CONSTITUTION:At the time of rolling a plate-form rolling material 1 by a work roll 2, sleeves 7, 8 are rotatably loosely fitted to the outside circumferences of both side parts and central part of upper and lower backup rolls 5. The central sleeves 8 are mounted with offcentering by e with respect to the revolving center of the backup rolls 5. When the rolls 5 are revolved by driving fine adjustment devices 16, the roll bodies 5 revolve about the center A of the roll bearings 12 and the center B of the central sleeves 8 deviate by e1. When rolling is done in this state and if the maximum deflection of the rolls 5 is equal to e1, the outside surfaces of the contact of the sleeves 7, 8 with the work rolls 2 become linerar irrespective of the deflections of the rolls 5 and the rolling material 1 is flatly rolled.
