    • PURPOSE:To efficiently generate high-purity gaseous oxygen by providing a porous anode fitted with a porous water-retentive material to one surface of a solid high molecular electrolytic material and feeding water to the cathodic chamber of a porous cathodic side which is provided to the other surface thereof and electrolyzing it. CONSTITUTION:In the inside of an electrolytic cell 1, a porous anode 3 and a porous cathode 4 are provided respectively to both surfaces of a solid high molecular electrolytic material 2 such as a membrane of a perfluorocarbonsulfonic acid-base polymer. Furthermore a porous water-retentive material 11 consisting of a high-water absorptive high molecular material is fitted on the porous anode 3. Water or steam is fed to a cathodic chamber 6 faced with the porous cathode 4 through an inlet 8 of water supply. Then water is electrolyzed by impressing electric power to both electrodes 3, 4 from a DC electric source 7. Gaseous hydrogen generated in the cathodic chamber 6 by electrolysis is collected through an outlet for the produced gaseous hydrogen. On the other hand, the steam contained in oxygen generated on the anode 3 is trapped to the water-retentive material 11 and electrolyzed on the anode 3 and high-purity gaseous oxygen is recovered through the outlet 9 for the produced gaseous oxygen.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a methane gas-thermal decomposition method with an apparatus whose size is reduced to 1/2 by putting a catalyst consisting of a support (alumina support) and ruthenium carried on the support in a uniformly heating part of a methane gas-decomposition furnace and supporting both ends of the catalyst with a heat-resistant fiber. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst (ruthenium catalyst) B consisting of alumina and about 0.5% of ruthenium carried on the alumina is packed in a uniformly heating part of a reaction tube A and silica wool C is packed in both side of the catalyst to hold the ruthenium catalyst B. Methane gas is led by a mass flow meter D to the reaction tube A, pre-heated about 1000 deg.C after the reaction system is purged by nitrogen gas. After a specified amount of methane gas is led to replace the gas in the reaction tube by methane, the pressure of the system is set to be about 0.5kg/cm G (gauge pressure) by a backing pressure valve E. In this way, methane gas is decomposed. By this method, the decomposition temperature is able to be set low, and thus it is possible to make the size of the apparatus about 1/2.

The carrier impregnated with the additive substance is heated at about 100°C under vacuum to evaporate moisture and dried to form a CO
      2 -adsorber. As the porous carrier, for example, a silica gel, alumina, activated carbon or a synthetic resin can be used and granular ones are ordinary used. The alkali metal N-methylalanate is a salt of an element belonging to the Group IA of the Periodic Table and lithium N-methylalanate is designated.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing device for pipes having excellent washing capability without using a 1.1.1-trichloroethane which is said to be the cause for the destruction of the ozone strata. SOLUTION: A washing basket 13 is immersed in a washing tank 10 in which an aq. alkaline washing liquid 11 is housed. This washing basket 13 is provided with a force feed tank 14 and the pipes 1 to be washed are housed into the washing basket 13. These pipes 1 are connected at one end to the force feed tank 14. The aq. alkaline washing liquid 11 is lifted by a washing liquid supply pump 24 and is supplied to the force feed tank 14 so that the aq. alkaline washing liquid 11 is made to flow along the inside and outside surfaces of the pipes 1. The stains sticking to the inside surfaces and outside surfaces of the pipes to be washed are eventually removed by the cooperation of the chemical reaction effect of the aq. alkaline washing liquid and the friction peeling effect by the flow, by which the washing of the inside and outside surfaces of the pipes is well executed.
