摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To hold down the outflow of hot water from a pressure relief hole to the minimum when an electric water boiler overturns and malfunctions by providing a hole covering means at a designated space from an opening of the pressure relief hole in an electric water heater having a pressure relief hole for relieving the pressure in an internal container when a flowing water preventing means for preventing flowing of water to the outside. SOLUTION: When an electric water boiler overturns, the vertical part of a steam passage 17a becomes substantially horizontal and a ball valve 20 is moved by steam pressure to close the steam passage 17a, thereby preventing hot water from flowing out from a steam port 16. The steam passage 17a is provided with a pressure relief hole 21, and when the pressure steam passage 17a is closed, steam is let flow out of the pressure relief hole 21 to reduce the pressure in the internal container 4, and the ball valve 20 is dropped by the weight to open the steam port 16, whereby flowing out of hot water from a nozzle 33 is held down to the minimum. In such a water heater, a hole cover 45 for covering a part or the whole of the opening part is provided integrally with a cover lower case 15 at a little space from above the opening part of the pressure relief hole 21, thereby holding down outflow of hot water from the pressure relief hole 21.

The control means 6 executes electric conduction to the heating means 2 and executes continuout heating by a command of the boiling mode selecting means 5. In such a way, a harmful matter contained in water is eliminated surely and economically.
