    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective relay capable of realizing low cost production and also easily realizing a countermeasure against electric noise. SOLUTION: Light beams A1 emitted from each light source are transmitted through each of optical current sensors 4-1 to 4-3 via each of optical fibers 2-1 to 2-3 and supplied to a multiplexer 6 as optical output signals B1, the polarized surface of which are rotated corresponding to each current of power transmission lines 3-1 to 3-3. By the multiplexer 6, the optical output signals B1 from each of the optical current sensors 4-1 to 4-3 are optically summed up into a summation signal C1 and supplied to a half mirror 16. An optical process determination part 7 comprises a feed back circuit 17 for feeding back of the output of a liquid crystal 9, therefore, if the level of the summation signal C1 exceeds a threshold value, the intensity of a transmitted light H1 rises stepwise, and supplied to an optical driving element 18 via a beam splitter 13, and converted into an electric signal for on/off control circuit breakers 38-1 to 38-3 for protecting the power transmission lines 3-1 to 3-3.
