    • PURPOSE:To make an air-speed distribution uniform and make an adsorbing efficiency uniform and higher by a method wherein a perforated baffle plate is provided only in the vicinity of the central part of an absorbent layer, in a water-absorbing and dehumidifying tower of a water-making machine. CONSTITUTION:In the vicinity of the central part with respect to the direction of length l of the absorbent layers 1a, 2a in the water-absorbing the dehumidifying towers 1, 2, the perforated baffle plate 1b having a cross-sectional shape of an inverted V is placed substantially in parallel to the inside surface of the absorbent layer, for instance, 1a, with an appropriate distance therebetween. Consequently, the air-flow passing through the vicinity of the central part of the absorbent layer 1a is baffled and the air speed is reduced, while the air speed in the area devoid of the baffle plate 1b is increased. Accordingly, the air speeds v1, v2, v3, v4, v5 at respective positions in the direction of length l are substantially equalized so that the adsorption can be conducted uniformly at any part of the absorbent.

    • PURPOSE:To effect an early detection of clogging and an appropriate counteraction by using U-pipe for detecting differential pressure between gas inlet and outlet to detect the clogging of adsorbing layers in a water-making device to produce water by adsorbing water from gas. CONSTITUTION:When clogging occurs in an adsorbent 1a, pressure difference increases between the gas inlet and outlet separated by the adsorbent 1a in a container 1. Pressure at the side of gas inlet and outlet is respectively guided to the first and second pipe end of U-pipes, via the first and second connection pipes 103, 104. In accordance with the pressure difference, the surface of liquid 102 of the second pipe end is pushed up, so that a float 105 is moved upward. The movement of the float 105 is transmitted to a movable contact 109, which at the specified value of clogging, contacts a fixed-contact 110. This causes a indicator circuit 113 to close, a lamp 110 to light, and the clogging to be displayed. This enables an immediate clogging detection and early action, resulting in enhanced water-making efficiency.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the absorbability of the absorbent layer, by setting the thickness of respective parts of the absorbent layer held in the absorbing and dehydrating column correspondingly to the velocity of gas flowing into the said parts, in a water making apparatus which obtains water from the moisture of gas. CONSTITUTION:In the absorption process, the moisture of the atmospheric air is absorbed by the absorbent layer held in the absorbing and dehydrating column; next, in the dehydration process, heat is given to the absorbent layer in order to release the absorbed moisture as steam; further, the high-temprature and high- humidity air passed through the absorbing and dehydrating column is cooled to condense the moisture, and the water in liquid state is obtained. The thickness of the absorbent layer 1a is enlarged at the middle part wherein the velocity of the in-flowing air is large; hereby, the air velocity flowing into respective parts of the absorbent layer 1a is made proportinal to the thickness of corresponding part. As a result, the absorbability of the absorbent layer 1a is fully displayed.

    • PURPOSE:To detect clogging of adsorbent using a pressure-receiving plate which senses differential pressure by a method wherein a container is devided into two chambers by the pressure-receiving plate having a strain gauge, and chambers are each connected to the gas inlet and outlet of the adsorbent housing. CONSTITUTION:Valves 9, 10 are opened, the blower 2 is driven, and the air is sent to the adsorbent housing 1, so that moisture in the air is adsorbed. When the adsorbent 1a adsorbs enough moisture, valves 9, 10 are closed, valves 11, 12 are opened, the air is sent from the blower 3 to the heater 5, and the hot air is sent to the housing 1 so that moisture is desorbed. The humidified hot air is sent via route 8 to the condenser 4 where water is condensed. Each of the gas inlet and outlet of the housing 1 is connected via respective pipes 110, 120 to chambers 103, 104 which are separated by a pressure receiving plate 102. The plate 102 senses the pressure loss in the housing and detects clogging of the adsorbent.

    • PURPOSE:To detect the abnormal temp. elevation of a juncture of high voltage conductors and to prevent serious accidents by providing a vacuum vessel of which the outside surface is broken by a needle when it is buckled by a pressure rise near said juncture, and detecting the leaking sound of the gas sealed therein with an oscillation detector. CONSTITUTION:Gaseous sulfur hexafluoride 2 is packed in a sealed metallic vessel 1, and a vacuum vessel 5 having a needle 7 is placed near the tulip contact 3 of high voltage conductors 4, 4'. An oscillation detector 6 is fitted to the outside surface of the vessel 1. If with this constitution the contact between the contact 3 and the conductors 4, 4' goes defective, the pressure of the gas 2 is increased by the abnormal temp. elevation owing to an increase in the electric resistance of that part, by which the vessel 5 is buckled and deformed, then a hole is pierced by the needle 7 and through this hole the gas 2 enters the inside of the vessel 5 and produces the leaking sound which is detected with the detector 6. Thereby, the abnormal temp. elevation of the juncture is detected in an early time and serious accidents are prevented.
