    • PURPOSE: To industrially produce an aldehyde while minimizing the loss of acyclic phosphite ligand susceptible to decomposition and the formation of by-products such as a substance having high boiling point by carrying out the separation process in the presence of an amine. CONSTITUTION: An olefinic unsaturated compound is subjected to hydroformylation reaction with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the presence of a rhodium-phosphite complex catalyst having a ligand consisting of a phosphite compound free from P-containing cyclic structure in the molecule and either one of the rhodium-phosphite catalyst, the unreacted olefinic unsaturated compound, the produced aldehyde, the solvent and the medium or high-boiling by-product is separated from the obtained reaction liquid in the presence of an amine. Preferably at least one of the alcohols of the component A is an aromatic alcohol and the ligand is composed of a compound of formula I [R1 to R3 are each an organic group and at least one of R1 to R3 is a substituted phenyl of formula II (R4 is aryl, etc.; R5 to R8 are each H or an organic group)].
