SOLUTION: A digital camera 1A which has an electronic zooming function is provided with an ambient light passive type range-finding device for acquiring two-dimensional range-finding information. The two-dimensional range-finding information acquired by the range-finding device is used for the auto focus control of the digital camera 1A. Further, the two-dimensional range-finding information is also used to detect a main object SB located within a photographing area CA. The digital camera 1A uses the two-dimensional range-finding information to specify the position G of the main object SB and moves the center CP of a partial area PA to be an object to be cut off in the direction of the position G in the case of generating an electronically zoomed image.
