摘要： PURPOSE:To allow a contact lens excellent in oxygen permeability, hardness, softness and transparency by forming the contact lens from a copolymer containing a monomer mixture in which a silicone containing styrene and a fumarate are mixed together in a specified mole ratio. CONSTITUTION:A contact lens is formed by using, as a material, a copolymer consisting of a copolymer component containing at least 10 mole % of a monomer mixture obtained by mixing a silicon-containing styrene and at least one of fumarates of dialkyl fumarate, di(fluoroalkyl)fumarate, di(silicon-containing alkyl)fumarate, alkyl(fluoroalkyl)fumarate, alkyl(silicon-containing alkyl)fumarate, and fluoroalkyl(silicon-containing alkyl)fumarate are mixed together in a mole ratio of 1:1 - 25:1, preferably 1:1 - 10:1. The copolymer component desirably contain 0.1 - 20 mole % of a cross-linking monomer.

The material of the substrates 1 is not particularly restricted and may be any material, insofar as these materials are used for ordinary electromagnetooptical devices. The more specific examples thereof include glass substrates, such as soda lime glass, and plastic substrates, such as polyethylene terephthalate substrate.
