    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method of a plasma display panel that can reduce a flicker and improve display quality of an image.
      SOLUTION: Disclosed is the driving method of the plasma display panel having a plurality of discharge cells each having a display electrode pair comprising a scan electrode and a sustain electrode, and a data electrode. In this method, a plurality of sub-fields each having an initialization period, a write period, and a sustain period are provided in a one-field period, and a normal driving period wherein discharge cells are selectively made to emit light through driving based upon an image signal to display an image and a specified driving period wherein all the discharge cells are made not to emit light irrelevantly to the image signal are provided. In the normal driving period, luminance magnification is varied in the normal driving period according to APL and the timing wherein a starting sub-field in the one-field period is generated is changed according to the luminance magnification, but in the specified driving period, the timing wherein the starting sub-field is generated is fixed.

      SOLUTION: One field period comprises a plurality of subfields having a write period when a write discharge is generated by applying a write pulse to a data electrode and a sustain period when a sustain discharge is generated by applying the sustain pulses of the number obtained by multiplying the luminance weight by a proportionality coefficient to a display electrode pair. When the temperature detected by a temperature sensor 59 is above the predetermined temperature threshold, the proportional coefficient is changed dependently upon an APL of an image signal and the pulse width of the write pulses is set at a predetermined standard pulse width for every subfields. When the temperature detected by the temperature sensor 59 is below the predetermined temperature threshold, the proportional coefficient is kept constant and the pulse width of the write pulse of the at least one subfield is set longer than the standard pulse width.
