SOLUTION: This solution is composed of a non-aqueous solvent and a solute dissolved in this, and as the solvent, the nonaqueous electrolytic solution is used containing at least one kind selected from among propylene carbonate and 1,3-propane sultone, or vinylene carbonate and diphenyl disulfide, di-p-tolyl disulfide, and bis(4-methoxyphenyl)disulfide, or containing propylene carbonate and 1,3-propane sultone and at least one kind selected from among vinylene carbonate and diphenyl disulfide, di-p-tolyl disulfide, bis(4-methoxyphenyl) disulfide.

摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain a paste type cadmium negative electrode with high performance by forming an active material layer mainly comprising cadmium oxide and metallic cadmium on a conductive core, and converting part of the cadmium oxide in the coated plate into cadmium hydroxide. CONSTITUTION:An active material layer mainly comprising cadmium oxide and metallic cadmium is formed on a conductive core, then part of the cadmium oxide in the active material is converted into cadmium hydroxide, and the cadmium hydroxide is uniformly distributed in the active material. When cadmium oxide in the active material is converted into cadmium hydroxide, since volume expansion attendant on the conversion proceeds with pores in the plate filled, filling density of the active material is increased, binding action is increased, and the strength of the plate is heightened. Since the strength is uniformly heightened in the whole plate, a uniform conductive network is formed from the core to the surface of the plate. A paste type cadmium negative electrode with high performance can be obtained.

As a result, the current distribution in the charging is uniformed. Furthermore, charging reaction points in the car bon powder or carbon fiber, or the nickel membrane layer are increased, the polarization of the cadmium negative electrode in the charging is reduced remarkably, and the hydrogen gas generation is suppressed.

摘要： PURPOSE:To improve negative electrode's capability of absorbing an oxygen gas and to realize large-current charge by negatively electrolyzing an electrode plate in an alkaline electrolytic solution to provide the electrode plate with the amount of auxiliary charge and concurrently by converting one or all part of copper salt into metallic copper. CONSTITUTION:An electrode plate, whose core material is coated with paste of an active material consisting of cadmium oxide or cadmium hydroxide mainly, is negatively electrolyzed in an alkaline electrolytic solution and provided with the amount of auxiliary charge. Concurrently a conductive matrix of metallic copper is formed on a cadmium electrode by making one or all part of copper salt in the active material into metallic copper. Hence the negative electrode's capability of absorbing the oxygen gas can be improved.
