SOLUTION: The lower limit position H of a pusher 13 operated based on the diameter D of a component body 11a and the diameter d of lead wires 11b and 11c is corrected by a correction value α read out from a data table DT preset with the wire diameter d and the correction value α for the lower limit position H while being associated. A corrected lower limit position H is thereby determined and the pusher 13 is lowered to that position. Alternatively, the lead wires 11b and 11c are pushed into component mounting holes 12a and 12b by means of the pusher 13 and lowering operation of the pusher 13 is stopped when the pressure being applied to the pusher 13 from the lead wires 11b and 11c reaches a specified level.

When the sensor 39 detects no wire rod 2 even if the pair of feed rollers 4 are rotated within the set time, the controller judges a trouble of a unit 1, stops the operation of the device, and generates a signal to the outside.
