CONSTITUTION:An allocation parameter deciding section 100 which decides an allocation parameter from the information regarding the shape and size of a fixed area and a character string to be allocated to the fixed area is provided. The allocation trying section 101 of the section 100 performs the operation for allocating the character string to the fixed area indicated from an operator or tries allocation by using an allocation parameter instructed from an allocation parameter selecting section 103 by executing a command for allocating the character string to the fixed area described in an application job program. A comparing section of the section 100 compares the allocated results with the shape and size of the fixed area and the section 103 decides the initial value of the allocation parameter and then selects the allocation parameter based on the compared result. In addition, an allocating section 104 allocates the character string by using the decided allocation parameter.

The part 3 stores the character sizes like the en, em, etc., the character types like KATAKANA (square form of Japanese syllabary), KANJI (Chinese characters), KANA (Japanese syllabary), alphamerics, etc., and character qualification information including underlines, halftone process, embossed characters, etc. A sentence is inputted via the part 1 and a sentence conversion indicating key is pushed based on the information on the size, the type and the qualification of the corresponding character. Thus a specific area where a cursor is positioned is checked with reference to the part 2 and the name of said area is retrieved. Then the part 4 converts the input sentence from the area name based on the information on the size, the type and the qualification of the character stored in the part 3. The result of the sentence conversion is outputted to the part 5.
