    • PURPOSE:To form the pit of different depth or width on a recording carrier and to obtain a recording carrier, for which recording density is drastically improved, without widely changing a recording and reproducing device by changing the intensity of a light, which is emitted from a light source. CONSTITUTION:The light to be outputted from a light source 3 is controlled to an output, which corresponds to input data, by an optical output stabilizing device 4 and made incident from a substrate 5 side to an arbitrary position on a recording carrier 1 by a condensing device 2. When optical power is large, a recording medium 6 in a part, which is irradiated with the light, is wholly melted by heat and a pit 72 is formed. When the optical power goes to be small, the depth of the pit is made shallow like a pit 71 which is formed in correspondence to the power. Thus, when the recording carrier 1, for which the pit is formed, is reproduced by using a reproducing optical block, the amplitude of an RF output is changed in correspondence to the depth of the pit. Thus, a conventional recording system is used as it is and for the reproducing, the recording density is drastically improved only by changing one part of a circuit. Then, information quantity to be reproduced at once is increased.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a small-sized lightweight analyser having simple constitution, by mounting a light wave guide type nonlinear optical element and a photoreceptor detecting the intensity of higher harmonic and performing the spectrum analysis of a fundamental wave on the basis of the intensity of the higher harmonic. CONSTITUTION:Light L0 to be subjected to spectrum analysis is incident to a light wave guide type nonlinear optical element 1. This element 1 emits the secondary higher harmonic L2 of the incident light in a direction of an angle alphawith respect to a light wave guide when the light L0 is incident to the light wave guide formed in the element 1. There is 1:1 relation between this angle and the wavelength lambda of a fundamental wave and, further, the cosine component thereof, that is, cosalpha is approximately proportional to the wavelength lambda. As mentioned above, since the higher harmonic generated from the nonlinear optical element 1 is emitted at the angle corresponding to the waveform of the fundamental wave, by allowing said higher harmonic to be incident to a photoreceptor 2 having a photodetector array shape and monitoring the output of each photodetector, the spectrum of the incident light can be analyzed.
