    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate the projection area of a three-dimensional model at a high speed and to provide the required accuracy of the projection area. SOLUTION: The projection surface of the projection area to be obtained of an inputted three-dimensional model is prepared. The inspection range (e) of the projection surface for generating inspection points cjk is decided from the position and size of the three-dimensional model, the inspection points cjk are generated with predetermined inspection point intervals in a grid shape in X and Y directions in the inspection range (e) and an inspection line djk in a normal direction is generated from the inspection point cjk to the projection surface. The crossing judgement of the three-dimensional model and the inspection line djk is performed for all the inspection points cjk . The number of the inspection points of the inspection line djk for which the crossing judgement is performed with the three-dimensional model is summed up, area conversion is performed and the projection area is obtained and displayed. By estimating the crossing judgement between the inspection points c,., since the inspection of the inspection points cjk is reduced, a processing speed is accelerated. For the accuracy of the projection area, by changing the interval of the inspection points cjk , the required accuracy is selected.
