摘要： PURPOSE: To prevent the reduction in discharging performance and voltage, the generation of heat, and leakage of liquid even when a gel zinc negative electrode overflows by covering the part from a positive electrode mix surface layer to a gasket abutting part on a metallic case inside face by means of liquid sealant. CONSTITUTION: From a gasket 8 abutting part, which serves as a metallic case sealing part, on a metallic case 6 inside face to the surface layer of a positive electrode mix 1 serving as an opening part, liquid sealant 12 is applied, and a gel zinc negative electrode 2 is filled to be sealed by means of the sealing gasket 8. In this way, the reduction in voltage is prevented even when the gel zinc negative electrode 2 overflows, and consequently, stable quality can be secured even under such a battery using condition.

CONSTITUTION:A thin portion 7a as a burst preventing mechanism is formed in a part of a gasket 7 made of a resin. A vent hole 8a of a washer 8 with respect to the thin portion 7a is formed inside a semicircle relative to a coaxial radius perpendicular to a line connecting the thin portion 7a to the axis of a battery. Consequently, the washer 8 functions as an electrolyte shielding plate for a vent path so as to restrain scattering of an electrolyte when the mechanism is operative.

摘要： PURPOSE:To restrain the occurrence of hydrogen gas by using resin as the base material of a negative electrode current collector and covering the surface thereof with metal selected from at least one of copper, silver, tin, zinc and lead for preventing a foreign material from being deposited on the surface of the collector. CONSTITUTION:A negative electrode formed out of zinc alloy powder as a negative electrode active material without any addition of mercury is set at the center of a battery and a positive electrode 1 is laid on the external surface of the negative electrode via a separator 3. Also, a negative electrode current collector 4 is laid in such state as inserted in the negative electrode. Resin is used as the base material of the current collector 4, and the surface thereof is covered with metal selected from at least one of copper, silver, tin, zinc and lead. In this way, the current collector 4 is processed, so as to prevent the deposition of a foreign material on the surface thereof. As a result, when the current collector 4 so processed is used for zinc alloy powder without any addition of mercury, the occurrence of hydrogen gas is restrained and a good quality alkaline battery of high resistance to liquid leakage is provided.
