    • PURPOSE:To improve the quality of sound signals by using an exclusive having a different azimuth from those of a pair of heads which record video signals to record the code modulated sound signals to a guard band and using different heads to reproduce the video and sound signals respectively. CONSTITUTION:The video signals are applied to a terminal 17 and amplified by a recording amplifier 27 via a video signal processing circuit 26 set at the recording side. These amplified video signals are recorded to a magnetic tape through rotary heads 4 and 5. While the sound signals applied to a terminal 28 are amplified by a recording amplifier 30 via a signal processing circuit 29 at the recording side and recorded to the magnetic tape through rotary heads 6 and 7. Heads 4 and 5 are set at adverse azimuth 180 deg. to each other, and heads 6 and 7 have different azimuths from those of heads 4 and 5. Then heads 6 and 7 performs the PCM recording to a guard band between video signal tracks. In a reproduction mode the video signals are reproduced by heads 4 and 5; while the sound signals are reproduced by heads 6 and 7 respectively. This can improve the quality of the sound signals for recording and reproducing.

CONSTITUTION:A luminance signal is separated by an LPF4 from a color video signal impressed upon a terminal 3 and supplied to a mixer 13 after it is converted 5 in terms of frequency. A carrier chrominance signal which is the output of a BPF6 is low-frequency converted to the low frequency side of the recordable and reproduceable band of a recording and reproducing medium 14, for example, to a band of 629KHz+ or - 500KHz, by means of a balanced modulator 7, oscillator 8, and LPF9. The low-frequency converted carrier chrominance signal is converted into a digital signal by an AD converter 10. The digitized low- frequency converted carrier chrominance signal is given to a chroma processing circuit 11 at the recording side which executes processings required at the recording side in the form of digital signals, and processed. The output of the processing circuit 11 is returned to the analog signal by an AD converter. Then the analog signal is mixed with the luminance signal at a mixer 13 and recorded on the recording and reproducing medium 14.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the recording and reproducing quality of a sound signal of a VTR by recording a video signal and a sound signal applied with code modulation by frequency multiplex on the identical track, separating the frequency of the video signal from that of the code modulated sound signal at reproduction and demodulating respectively the signals. CONSTITUTION:A luminance signal frequency-modulated, a chrominance carrier signal converted into a low frequency and the code modulated sound signal are inputted to a synthesizer 15 in the form that they occupy individual band respectively. Each signal subject to frequency multiplex at the synthesizer 15 is given to a rotary head 17 via a recording amplifier 16 and recorded on a video track on a magnetic tape 18. A signal recorded on the magnetic tape 18 is picked up by the rotary head 17 of the reproducing system, amplified at a head amplifier 19, and then given to filter groups 20, 23, 27 for frequency separation. The luminance signal being an output of a low pass filter 22 and the chrominance carrier signal being an output of a band pass filter 25 are mixed to form a color video signal. The signal obtained by the high pass filter (HPF)27 is restored into the sound signal and outputted to a terminal 30.

Further, in rewriting sound information of a tape recorded already, the mode has only to be switched into the recording mode after a switch 11 is opened. A new sound input given to a terminal 8 is recorded by rotary magnetic heads 15, 16 via a sound signal processing circuit 10, the adder 12 and a recording amplifier 13. The sound signal on a magnetic tape is rewritten into the new information by setting only the sound signal to a value to be erased and re-recorded in this case.
