    • PURPOSE:To accurately perform the guidance of a path by using the name of main intersection on a map memory in a path guiding means for an automobile. CONSTITUTION:A current position detection part 7 detects the current position of the automobile from an output signal from an input circuit 3 and the data of the map memory 6 and a next intersection detection part 8 detects a next intersection with the data from the memory 6 and the signal from the detection part 7. A decision part 9 of a distance to the next intersection decides the distance to the next intersection or arrival time by detecting that it is equal to or below threshold with a next intersection detecting signal. When the decision part 9 decides that it is equal to or below the threshold, the designation for next action, for example, the name of the intersection and an advancing direction, is performed by a CRT 12 and a speaker 13. By inputting a destination from a keyboard 5 when the guidance of the path is started, an optimum path is guided by a control circuit 4 and the name of the main intersection is extracted.       CONSTITUTION: The sampling data A inputted to a delay circuit 14 is applied to each input of an AND circuit 15 and an OR circuit 16.
