      SOLUTION: In this method for evaluating osmosis of the composition containing hydrophobic amino acids or peptides containing hydrophobic amino acid into keratine fibers, the keratine fiber treated by the composition, containing one kind of hydrophobic amino acid or more, or the peptide containing the hydrophobic amino acid selected from among a group composed of leucine, tryptophan, phenylalanine and proline is cut in the direction of its diameter, the obtained piece is dyed by basic dye, and then the cut face is observed by an optical microscope.

      SOLUTION: In this method, a peak area (A) of at least one band selected from a group comprising an S-S band and an S-O band, and a peak area (B) of at least one band selected from a group comprising an amido I band, a C-H band and a phenylalanine band are calculated in a Raman spectrum measured relative to the inside of the fiber on a section acquired by cutting the keratin fiber in the lateral direction or in the vertical direction, and the degree of damage of the keratin fiber is evaluated based on the ratio of the peak area (A) to the peak area (B).
