    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a folding device capable of improving efficiency (productivity) of folding process.SOLUTION: This folding device 127 is provided, which includes a folding means 405 and a prior moving means 406. The folding means performs the folding on a paper bundle aligned by an alignment member positioned at a folding position. The prior moving means moves the alignment member from the folding position to a home position or the alignment position according to a position of the end of the paper bundle being moved by the folding process. This can put ahead the starting time for moving the alignment members and reduce the time required for subsequent folding process, thereby improving efficiency (productivity) of the folding process as a whole.
