    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing film with little unevenness of transmittance between a central portion and end portions and which is manufactured from a PVA-based polymer film from which a polarizing film with little unevenness of transmittance between the central portion and the end portion can be produced.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a polarizing film includes dyeing, uniaxially stretching, fixing, and drying a PVA-based polymer film which satisfies 0.5 mm≤W-W≤5 mm, where W(mm) represents an amount of dimensional change in water of a central portion and W(mm) represents an amount of dimensional change in water (an average value) at 0.3 m from both end portions along a straight line in the width direction (a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction) of the PVA-based polymer film. (The amount of dimensional change in water refers to longitudinal elongation of a PVA-based polymer film sample, in a section having a pre-immersion longitudinal length of 250 mm, when immersing the same in pure water at 30°C for 5 minutes.)
