      CONSTITUTION: A polymer diol, such as a polyester diol, of an average MW of 800W2,200 having a group of the formula in the molecule and obtained, for example, by copolymerizing by ring opening ε-caprolactone with β-methyl-δ- valerolactone is prereacted with an organic diisocyanate (e.g., 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate) at 120°C or below to synthesize an isocyanato-terminated prepolymer. This prepolymer is kneaded with, if necessary, a chain extender comprising a low-molecular compound having at least two active hydrogen atoms (e.g., 1,4-butanediol), and melt-polymerized to obtain a thermoplastic polyurethane. This polyurethane is melt-molded into a film by injection molding, extrusion, or the like.
