    • PURPOSE:To minimize the time required for focusing and to decease the load of driving power by moving a lens driving member and lens positioning member in such a manner that a step cam for positioning the lens preceds a groove cam for driving the lens. CONSTITUTION:A range finder detects an object distance cooperately with the releasing of a camera and inputs the information thereon to a control device. A contact piece 35 and a printed circuit board 22 slide with each other and a pulse signal is fed to the control device when a motor 60 rotates simultaneously the lens driving member 40 and the lens positioning member 30 in a clockwise direction. Said signal is then compared with the preset reference position of a photographing lens 50. The rotation of the motor 60 is once stopped and the 2nd movable coil member 12 is rotated backward to actuate a control pin 11 when both coincide with each other. The motor 60 beings to the run again in succession thereto and rotates further the member 40 and therefore the guide pin 51 of the lens 60 contacts with the prescribed step of the step cam 31 to set the lens 50 in the position on the optical axis corresponding to the distance information of the range finder and thereafter the motor 60 stops.

CONSTITUTION:The lens unit 3 is inserted into a lens mount 2a built in a front plate 2 so that there is a slight clearance left between the outer periphery of the lens unit and the inner periphery of the lens mount, and the unit is supported while pressed axially and equally by plural rollers 5 provided as support members to the front surface of the front plate 2. The rollers 5 are formed of hard synthetic resin materials and held rotatably by metallic fittings 5a respectively to press the outer periphery surface of the lens unit 3 through the elastic operation of the metallic fittings 5a respectively, thereby aligning its optical axis to the axis of a camera body. Consequently, the optical axis of the lens mount 3 is corrected and supported, and moved while aligned to the axis of the camera body all the time through the centering operation of the rollers 5.

In this state, the lens driving member 40 and the lens positioning member 30 is stopped, and thereafter, the lens driving member 40 is stopped at a position determined by the lens positioning member 30, by which the time required for focusing can be shortened.
