As a result, the obtained support has a superior undercoat layer not causing peeling, etc. of the photosensitive layer from the support even at the time of manufacture, storage, development processing, etc., and not requiring use of a swelling agent or a dissolving agent for the support during its coating.

The objective latex can be obtained by adding a shell-forming monomer (e.g. butyl acrylate) to the mixture, and carrying out the seed-polymerization of the monomer under nitrogen gas stream.
