SOLUTION: The method for producing the liquid dispersion of noble metal-supporting photocatalyst particles where the noble metal-supporting photocatalyst particles, which are obtained by loading the surfaces of photocatalyst particles with a noble metal, are dispersed in a dispersion medium includes: adjusting the pH of a starting material dispersion, in which the photocatalyst particles are dispersed and a precursor of the noble metal is dissolved in the dispersion medium, within the range of 2.8-5.5 and setting the dissolved oxygen concentration in the starting material dispersion to 1.0 mg/L or less; irradiating the starting material dispersion with light that has energy not less than the band gap of the photocatalyst particles; and thereafter adding a sacrificial agent to the starting material dispersion and further irradiating the resulting starting material dispersion with light that has energy not less than the band gap of the photocatalyst particles, thereby making the surfaces of the photocatalyst particles support the noble metal.
