      SOLUTION: In the elastic load bearing body 1 comprising an upper steel plate 2, a lower steel plate 3 and a rubber layer 4 interposed between them, at least one of a lower surface of the upper steel plate 2 and an upper surface of the lower steel plate 3 has a curved surface 5 so that the thickness of the rubber layer 4 may gradually increase from the center to the outer peripheral part. The elastic load bearing body 1 is applied to a sliding bearing or a fixed bearing arranged between upper and lower structures of a bridge.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for preventing bridge fall, which exerts a large buffering effect and can be manufactured easily.
      SOLUTION: The device for preventing bridge fall is to prevent a bridge beam from falling by connecting two structures, which are a beam end and a bridge abutment, or adjacent beam ends. The device includes a connecting member 11 and a buffering mechanism. Both ends of the connecting member 11 are connected to the two structures, respectively, and the connecting member 11 has an expandable and contractable expansion/contraction part 11a at least in a part of it. The buffering mechanism is housed in a metal sleeve 13 in the state that the expansion/contraction part 11a is contracted. Both ends of the buffering mechanism are fixed to the inner periphery of the metal sleeve 13. A number of slits 15 extending in the peripheral direction are formed in the metal sleeve 13 at intervals in the axial direction.
