SOLUTION: A thermosetting coating material for coating a wire is a coating material for coating a wire used for forming a matte color coating film having a cured film thickness of 20-70 μm on a wire, which comprises (A) a film-forming base resin having a glass transition temperature of -30 to 40°C, a number average molecular weight of 1,000-35,000 and a hydroxyl value of 5-70 mgKOH/g, (B) a crosslinking agent having the reactivity with the film-forming base resin (A), (C) a color pigment, (D) organic resin fine particles having an average particle diameter of 3-60 μm which is not completely molten by the baking when cured to form a coating film and (E) a lubricity-imparting agent.
