    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide high performance molecular sieve carbon not lowering a nitrogen yield and the purity of nitrogen even if the amount of a raw material gas generated is sharply increased and suitable for enhancing the performance of a nitrogen generator and reducing the size thereof. SOLUTION: The adsorbing volume ratio of oxygen to nitrogen after one min of this molecular sieve carbon, when a single component is adsorbed under definite pressure, is 1.4-3 and the amount of oxygen adsorbed after 5 sec is 0.85 or above of the amount of oxygen adsorbed after one min. The molecule sieve carbon of a nitrogen gas separator has a capacity that the amount of generation per unit weight of product nitrogen is 250 (Nm 3 /h×t) or above in the case of a nitrogen purity of 99%, 150 (Nm 3 /h×t) or above in the case of the nitrogen purity of 99.9% and 100 (Nm 3 /h×t) or above in the case of the nitrogen purity of 99.99%.
