    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a feed for a ruminant capable of surely making the ruminant digest and improving palatability and a feeding efficiency, and suitable for a daily cattle, etc., without inducing any nutritive deviation by adding and blending a starchy raw material, etc., into a crude feed, press-processing and solidifying. SOLUTION: This feed for a ruminant is obtained by adding (B) 10-60 wt.% of a starchy raw material, (C) preferably 0-50 wt.% of a protein raw material such as fish meal, (D) preferably 0-20 wt.% of oils and fats raw material such as fatty acid calcium salt together with (E) preferably 0-50 wt.% of producing lees such as cottonseeds abundantly containing fiber components and/or (F) preferably 0-5 wt.% of a very small amount of nutritive raw material such as a vitamin agent, etc., into (A) preferably 40-80 wt.% of a crude feed such as alfalfa hays, blending, press-processing and solidifying. Preferably, a feed for a ruminant is prepared by blending 3-20 wt.% of this feed.

    • PURPOSE:To produce a solid feed in a short drying time in high efficiency, without causing deterioration of quality by thermal degradation, by adding crushed ice to a feed at a specific weight ratio to moisten the feed and forming, solidifying and drying the moistened feed. CONSTITUTION:Crushed ice is produced e.g. by finely crushing ice block produced by ice-making. The crushed ice is added to a feed at an amount of 3-30wt% to moisten the feed and the obtained mixture is formed and solidified to provide the objective solid feed. Since the feed is moistened with crushed ice, the amount of water necessary for forming is nearly half of the amount in the case of using water for moistening. Accordingly, the heat-quantity required for drying the formed feed can be remarkably reduced and the drying time can be shortened. The solid feed produced by this process exhibits improved growth, decreased occurrence of diarrhea and loose passage compared with conventional feed.
