    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent optical characteristics from drastically changing even if a temp. change arises by arranging a sleeve, a metallic housing body and photoelectric conversion elements by aligning their optical axes to the inner side of a resin body. SOLUTION: A connector having an optical fiber in an axial direction is inserted into a receptacle type optical module and a lens 2 is interposed between the photoelectric conversion elements 3 to convert a light signal to an electric signal. The sleeve 5 to be inserted with the ferrule of the optical connector, the metallic housing body 11 integrally formed with a ferrule stopper part 1 for pressing the front end of the ferrule and a lens holder part for holding the lens 2 and the photoelectric conversion elements 3 are arranged by aligning the optical axes A-A to the inner side of the resin body 6. As a result, the drastic change in the optical characteristics by the dimensional change in the position of the ferrule stopper part 1 and the photoelectric conversion elements 3 or the lens mounting part at the time of fitting the connector from the shrinkage of the resin in case the temp. change is induced by the large coefft. of thermal expansion of the resin does not arise in the resin receptacle.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an operation from becoming instable due to the change of the ambient temperature of a light receiving-emitting element by heat from an IC for driving by mounting the light receiving-emitting element on a sub mount, fixing the sub mount through a cooler or the like to a package and mounting the IC for driving to a position other than the sub mount. SOLUTION: The light receiving-emitting element 20 is mounted on the sub mount 40, the sub mount 40 is fixed through the cooler 50 and a heat sink 60, etc., to the package 10 and the IC 30 for driving is directly mounted on the heat sink 60 other than the sub mount 40. In such a manner, since the IC 30 for driving is provided on the position other tan the sub mount 40 where the light receiving-emitting element 20 is mounted and the cooler 50 is interposed between them, even when the light receiving-emitting element 20 generates the heat, the operation of the IC 30 for driving is prevented from becoming instable. Also, by directly mounting substrate 90 provided with an electric circuit and the IC 30 for driving on the heat sink 60, the effect of preventing the temperature rise is improved.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost of the optical module by forming a storage part for a ferrule stopper, a lens holder, and a photoelectric converting element of an integrated metallic storage body. SOLUTION: A lens 2 and a photoelectric converting element 3 for a light emitting element or light receiving element are arranged on the same optical axis A-A. The storage body 11 for the ferrule stopper 1, lens holder, and photoelectric converting element 3 is formed of the integrated metallic storage body 11. The right end surface of the metallic storage body 11 is an end surface that the ferrule abuts against and the point of intersection of the end surface and optical axis A-A is a light convergence or reception point 4. When this receptacle type module is manufactured, a sleeve 5 is fitted to the metallic storage body 1 and those are pressed in a resin-made body 6 and welded by an ultrasonic wave. Consequently, large joining strength is obtained and the processes are completed in a short time.
