摘要： PURPOSE:To provide a magnetic recording medium suitable for high density recording in a wide band. CONSTITUTION:A lower magnetic layer contg. magnetic powder for recording at a long wavelength and a resin binder and an upper magnetic layer contg. magnetic powder for recording at a short wavelength and a resin binder are formed on a nonmagnetic substrate to obtain the objective magnetic recording medium. The magnetic powder for recording at a short wavelength is platy magnetic particles each having an easy axis of magnetization in a direction perpendicular to the plate surface and having 30-50m /g specific surface area and 2.5-5.5 plate-shape ratio. The magnetic powder for recording at a long wavelength is acicular magnetic particles having 3-15 acicularity ratio and 0-20m /g difference in specific surface area between them and the platy magnetic particles. The thickness of the upper magnetic layer is regulated to 0.1-0.7mum which is smaller than the thickness of the lower magnetic layer.
