    • PURPOSE:To obtain a metallic image having sharp edges by laying an undercoat layer which is soluble in an aqueous treating liq. on a support, diagonally vacuum-depositing a metal on the surface of the layer, and forming a photosensitive resin layer on the surface of the deposited metal. CONSTITUTION:A styrene-sodium maleate copolymer is applied to a polyethylene terephthalate film to obtain a support 1 having an undercoat layer which is soluble in an aqueous treating liq. or has an affinity for the liq. The support 1 is placed on a substrate holder 5 in a vacuum depositing device 6 with the undercoat layer outward. The support 1 is faced toward an evaporating source 2 in which Al is set as a depositing material 3 at an angle theta of vacuum deposition with a shutter 4 in-between. Al is diagonally vacuum-deposited on the surface of the undercoat layer of the support 1 at the angle theta to obtain a deposited metallic film. By applying conventional photosensitive resin to the film, a resist layer is formed. The resulting material is exposed through a pattern and immersed in 0.1N aqueous NaOH soln. The undercoat layer is dissolved, the unexposed Al film is easily removed, and a metallic image having sharp edges is obtd.

    • PURPOSE:To make it possible to lower alkalinity in a system without hindering formation of a diffusion transferred image by forming a neutralizing layer contg. specified copolymerizable components. CONSTITUTION:A neutralizing layer contg. a copolymer made from an ethylenically unsatd. monomer having at least one carboxylic group or a group producing it after hydrolysis, such as formula I (R1 is H, lower alkyl, or one of groups of formulae II and III, or the like; R2, R3 are each H, halogen, lower alkyl, or a group of formula IV; R4 is H or lower alkyl; n is 1 or 2; but at least one of R1, R2, and R3 is a carboxylic group or a group producing it upon being hydrolyzed), and a monomer having at least one F atom, such as formula V (R5, R6, R7 are H or halogen; R6 is H, halogen, or 1-12C alkyl optionally substd. by F, or phenyl optionally sibstd. by F, or the like; but at least one of R5-R8 contains one F). As a result, alkalinity can be lowered without hindering formation of a diffusion transfer image.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain an image forming material having high sensitivity, high film strength and superior reducing characteristics, developable with an aqueous developer, and giving stably a high contrast image by using a specified photosensitive diazo resin composition. CONSTITUTION:An image forming material is obtd. by successively laminating a colored mask layer and a photosensitive layer on a support. The photosensitive layer contains a photosensitive diazo resin compound (1), a latex polymer (2) contg. quat. N or P atoms, and a water soluble polymer (3). A polycondensation product of p-diazodiphenylamine with formaldehyde is preferably used as the compound (1). A copolymer of a cationic monomer contg. a quat. N atom in the side chain represented by the general formula (where X is an anion, R is alkyl, Z is an unsatd. heterocyclic ring, and (n) is an integer) with a noncationic monomer for regulating water solubility is preferably used as the polymer (2). PVA or gelatin which is made insoluble in water when undergoes a hardening reaction with the compound (1) is used as the polymer (3).
