摘要： PURPOSE:The flux by which stable weldability can be obtained over the range from small heat input to large heat input, prepared by specifying the composition of the slag former included in the flux, and by adjusting the basicity of this slag former, and also, by specifying the particle distribution and the bulk density of the flux. CONSTITUTION:The flux contains 25-55 wt% of its total weight of one or both of MgO and magnesia clinker as the slag former, and the basicity BL to be calculated from the following formula is adjusted to be larger than zero. BL=0.1 MgO + 0.108 CaO - 0.105SiO2 - 0.002 Al2O3 (in which, individual component included in the formula shows the wt% against total weight of the flux, and the total sum of MgO or magnesia clinker, wollastonite, silica, carbonate, alumina, and fluorite, of the composed component, is made 100, and the value of carbonate and fluorite is taken as the value converted to the oxide. The flux with particle size smaller than 295mu occupies less than 30 wt% of total, and the flux with particle size larger than 833mu occupies 5-40 wt% of total, and the bulk density of the flux is 0.8-1.3 g/cm .

摘要： PURPOSE:To prevent the drooping down of molten metal and perform welding at large heat input by interposing an insert between a vertical plate or horizontal plate and a backing strip. CONSTITUTION:An insert 7 is inserted to the opposing surfaces r of a main material 1' and backing strip 4'. Although the material and shape of the insert 7 are not particularly limited, an inorganic fibrous mat having plasticity such as mat of glass fibers, metal fibers or other inorganic fibers, or the one comprising enveloping powder or granules of welding flux, etc. with a film such as thermoplastic film or sheets is suitable. The above obviate the dropping of molten metal even if the deep penetration reaching the backing strip is formed with respect to the portions where the insert is interposed and make possible performing of high-efficiency welding through large heat input welding such as submerged arc welding.

摘要： PURPOSE:To prevent the burn-through of molten metal surface from the root gap surface by forming a cut-step part on the surface opposing to a vertical plate or horizontal plate, of a backing strip. CONSTITUTION:An oblique cut is formed to the upper left corner of a backing strip 4' to form a pocket part 7a. Hence, the molten metal formed in the bottom of the groove is accumulated in this pocket part 7a and will not drop onto its back side. If the amount is large, the molten metal 9 subsequently flows forward so as to gradually fill the inside of the passage of the pocket part 7a extending in the weld line direction, cools in that portion, and solidifies in the state that it is held closely contacted with the vertical plate, whereby the blowing-through of the arc coming from later is prevented.
