    • PURPOSE:To improve cooling efficiency and to reduce driving power for cooling water by increasing a cooling area in proportion to a pressure fluctuating ratio simultaneously with reducing the pressure of the cooling water to be sprayed to work rolls from a high to low pressure thereby maintaining specified cooling power. CONSTITUTION:Cooling water from a water storage source 6 is sprayed and supplied via plural spray nozzles 4a-d disposed on the inlet and outlet sides for a rolling material 10 and in a barrel direction to work rolls 1 of a rolling mill to cool said work rolls 1. A specified pressure P1 in a range of 8-30kg/cm is reduced to a pressure P2 in a range of 1-7kg/cm and at the same time a specified direct cooling area on the barrel surface of the rolls 1 is increased in proportion to the pressure fluctuating ratios of both pressures P1 and P2 and the flow of the cooling water is decreased in flow rate density at approximately a specified rate to maintain specified cooling power in the case of spraying said water under the pressure P1 in said direct cooling area and obtaining the specified cooling power.

    • PURPOSE:To perform an efficient descaling with a decreased pumping power, by providing laminar-flow supplying devices having laminar-flow supplying parts arranged separately in sequence, and washing away scales from a base steel after forming the scales in a peeled off state. CONSTITUTION:Laminar-flow supplying devices having a front and a rear laminar-flow supplying parts 12, 13 are arranged in the running direction of a rolling steel sheet 11. The rear laminar-flow supplying part 12 supplies plural cylindrical laminar-flows 12a to make the secondary scale from the base steel in a peeled-off state. Next, the peeled scales on the sheet 11 are wahsed and removed away from it, by the flat-plate-shaped laminar-flow 13a supplied from the front laminar-flow supplying part 13. Further, a wpray injecting device 15, spraying by air-flow 14, is provided auxiliary between a rolling mill 10 and the laminar- flow supplying devices 12, 13 to polish-clear the upper surface of the rolling steel sheet 11. By this mechanism, the peeling property of the scales is improved without using a large quantity of water.
