    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a segment changing device of a continuous casting apparatus which is also applicable to a roll segment of a large weight, capable of ensuring a wide opening when hoisting and carrying in/carrying out the segment, and simple at low cost.
      SOLUTION: In the segment changing device of the vertical type continuous casting apparatus, a rotary shaft 7 of a tilting beam 6 turnable in the vertical direction is pivotably supported by a supporting frame 17 on the side opposite to a slab guide device with respect to at least one segment 2e of the slab guide device having different floor level. A guide rail 9 capable of drawing out or drawing in the segment 2e is provided on the tilting beam 6. The guide rail 9 and a fixed rail 11 on supporting frames 18, 19 on the slab guide device side are smoothly connected to each other. When drawing out or drawing in the segment 2e, the tilting beam 6 is turned, a free end 15 of the tilting beam 6 is placed on the supporting frame 18 on the slab guide device side or a machine receiving beam 10 fixed onto the supporting frames 18, 19 by turning the tilting beam 6, and the guide rail 9 on the tilting beam 6 is held substantially in the horizontal condition.
