    • PURPOSE:To enhance the purity of recovered sulfur by preventing the lowering in the removal ratio of H2S and suppressing side-reaction, by holding pH of an iron chelate absorbing solution to a specific range and holding the mol ratio of trivalent chelate iron to the total chelate iron in the absorbing solution after absorption to a specific range. CONSTITUTION:The pH of an absorbing solution containing an iron ion, EDTA and triethanolamine is held to 7-9 and H2S-containing exhaust gas is introduced into an absorbing tower 1 to be subjected to the gas-liquid contact treatment with the absorbing solution from a spray nozzle 8. At this time, the mol ratio of trivalent chelate iron to the total chelate iron in the absorbing solution directly after gas-liquid contact treatment is set to 0.60-0.90. The absorbing solution containing elemental sulfur obtained through the oxidation of H2S in exhaust gas is sent to an oxidizing tower 2 through a liquid chember 9 and the catalyst in the absorbing solution is oxidized while the treated absorbing solution is sent to a recirculation tank 3. Subsequently, the absorbing solution is supplied to a filter press 5 through a sulfur bubbling tank 4 to separate and recover solid sulfur.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of scale by maintaining the pH of Mg(OH)2 absorption soln. in the specified range of acidic side and regulating the pH of the waste absorption soln. to neutral in an oxidation tower to oxidize it with air. CONSTITUTION:Mg(OH)2 slurry as an absorption soln. is regulated to 4.0-6.0pH. The waste gas is introduced into an absorption tower 1 and brought into contact with the circulating soln. to absorb and remove SO2 contained in the waste gas. One part of the circulating soln. is introduced into an oxidation tower 2 through a pipe 11 and made neutral with Mg(OH)2 fed through a pipe 12 to convert Mg(HSO3)2 contained in the soln. into MgSO3 and together MgSO3 is oxidized into MgSO4 with air fed through a pipe 13 and discharged to the outside of the system through a pipe 14. The ratio of MgSO3 for all sulfites incorporated in the circulating soln. is made small by regulating the pH of the circulation soln. in the absorption tower to 4.0-6.0 and because the ratio of easily soluble Mg (HSO3)2 is increased, there is no such terribleness that the scaling is caused.
