    • PURPOSE:To control the consumption of an anode and to electrolytically descale a cold-rolled stainless steel in an aq. neutral salt soln. over a long period by using the Ti coated with the oxide of a platinum-group element for the anode. CONSTITUTION:The oxide scales on a cold-rolled stainless steel sheet 3 are electrolytically removed. In this case, the sheet 3 is passed through an inlet-side chamber 5A contg. a 20% soln. 4 of the neutral salt of Na2SO4 and in which plural sets of anodes 1 are arranged above and below the sheet in the traveling direction and passed through an outlet-side chamber 5B contg. the same soln. 4 and in which plural sets of cathodes 2 are arranged above and below the sheet 3 in its traveling direction, and a current is applied to the cathode and anode to electrolytically remove the oxide scales on the surface of the sheet. In this case, an electrode of the Ti coated with the oxide of a platinum-family element such as IrO2 is used as the cathode, high-silicon cast iron is used for the cathode, the anode current density is controlled to 2-12A/dm , the anode potential is adjusted to 2.1V based on a silver-silver chloride electrode, and electrolytic descaling is carried out.

    • PURPOSE:To provide sufficient insulation in case of depositing an amorphous silicon when a solar battery substrate is formed and to prevent the silicon from separating by forming a thin layer made of nonconductive fine particles and nonconductive filler at least on one side surface of a stainless steel thin plate having 0.5mm or less thick manufactured by cold rolling. CONSTITUTION:Nonconductive fine particles such as metal oxide, metal carbide or metal nitride such as Al2O3, SiO2, SiC, or AlN having 0.1-1mum of particle diameter and metal organic compound such as naphthene acid metal salt of zinc or titanium or alkoxide having preferable wettability with the fine particles are mixed so that the volumetric ratio of the fine particles in the final insulating film becomes 20-80%, sufficiently mixed and the surface of a stainless steel thin plate having 0.5mm or less thick having less fine surface scratches sufficiently managed at rolling time is coated with the mixture as powder state or as suspension solution by alcohol such as butyl alcohol. After drying, the stainless steel thin plate covered with the insulating film is baked at 400-900 deg.C to complete the manufacture of a mother plate for a solar battery substrate.

    • PURPOSE:To enable the manufacture of master plate of stable cell characteristics with high productivity for a long term by forming a Cr and Ni plated layer on a surface of a stainless board and forming this plated layer with the thickness satisfying the specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:A covering layer is formed by plating with Cr and/or Ni with a stainless steel thin plate as a core plate. For the core plate, a plate having thickness of 0.8mm. or under and roughness of surface of 0.85mum or under at Rmax is used. Also, thickness of the plated layer is so formed that it satisfies the conditions of the equation according to the roughness of surface of the core plate. Consequently, the master plate for solar cell board which can maintain stability of cell characteristics for a long term can be manufactured with high productivity continuously. In this case, it is more preferable for obtaining the good surface condition at low cost ultimately that after the core plate is plated with Ni of good plating effect to the predetermined thickness so as to improve smoothness of the surface of master plate, thin plating with Cr is made.
