    • PURPOSE:To enable production of a rolled pipe having a specified wall thickness by controlling a reducing mill in accordance with the required elongation rate calculated from the actually measured values of the weight of a blank material and the length of a base pipe and the elongation determined from a rolling schedule. CONSTITUTION:The relation between the required elongation rate in a reducing mill 6 consisting of plural roll stands and the controlled variable for the revolution pattern of the rolls of the entire roll stand is predetermined for every elongation which is the ratio in the sectional area of a rolled pipe 7 between the inlet side and outlet side of the mill 6. On the other hand, the weight of a blank material 1 and the length of a base pipe 4 after working with a mandrel mill 3 are respectively actually measured by a device 2 for measuring weight and a device 5 for measuring length and the required elongation rate for reduction is calculated from such actually measured values and the weight of the command blank material and the weight of the command base material in the same lot. The controlled variable for the revolution pattern of the rolls in the reduction is determined by a calculator 9 for control in accordance with said elongation and the required elongation rate and the rotating speed of the rolls of each roll stand provided to the mill 6 is automatically controlled.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent surely the out-of-tolereance in the outside diameter of products, by detecting the hot finish outside diameter and temp. of a finish rolled pipe at the outlet of hot stretch reducers and controlling the temp. of a reheating furnace by using a model for prediction of temp. drop. CONSTITUTION:A base pipe 22 obtained by working a round billet 10 with a piercer 14, a mandrel mill 20, etc. is reheated in a reheating furnace 24 and is stretch-reduced with a hot stretch reducer 26, whereby a finish rolled pipe 28 having a target outside diameter is obtained. In a control device 38, the hot finish outside diameter and temp. of the base pipe at the final finishing stand are determined in accordance with the detected values D0 of the hot outside diameter and temp. of the finish rolled pipe 28 on the outlet side of said hot stretch reducer 26, and further from a coefft. eta of thermal expansion, a cold finish outside diameter and a target hot finishing temp. are determined and the rate of temp. drop during stretch reducing is predicated in accordance with a model, whereby the target temp. on the inlet side of the reducer 26 is determined and the set temp. TF of the furnace 24 is controlled.

    • PURPOSE:To improve additionally not only the size of a roll finished pipe but also the sectional shape thereof by enabling theoretical setting of the number of revolutions of each stand according to the actually measured tension between stands and enabling control of the pattern for distribution tension to each of the stands. CONSTITUTION:The initial pattern for the reference number of revolutions is calculated by the predicted tension coefft. ZAi from the outside diameter and wall thickness of a base pipe and the outside diameter and wall thickness of the roll finished pipe 5. The number of revolutions of the rolls is set for each of the roll stands 7 and the base pipe is subjected to stretch reducing. The tension Ti between the stands 7 during rolling is actually measured by a tension measuring device 21 via a load detector 12 and is inputted to a calculator 22 for control with a hot stretch reducer 4. The calculator 22 calculates the coefft. Zi of the actually measured tension of each stand 7 according to the actually measured tension Ti and corrects the pattern for the number of revolutions of the rolls by learning according to the deviation between both coeffts. ZAi and Zi. The control of the number of revolutions of the rolls with high accuracy is thus made possible.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent abnormal thickness and to reduce dispersion in length or thickness of tube stocks by learning and controlling the amount of advance of a piercing plug basing on the actual thickness or correction term when rolling the next material at each plug bar. CONSTITUTION:The density of a hollow 18 is calculated from estimated temperature of the hollow 18 in an exit side of a piercer 11 and the targer length of the hollow is calculated from the weight of a billet measured beforehand by a billet weight measuring device 30 from instructed hollow thickness, instructed hollow outer diameter. Then, the actual hollow thickness is determined using the actually measured hollow length lj measured by a hollow length measuring device 32 and the actual hollow outer diameter Dj measured by a hollow outer diameter measuring device 34. Then, the actual hollow thickness correction term is calculated and stored. When rolling the next material, learned controlsetting goege and lead are calculated from the actual hollow thickness correction term. After changing plug diameter, first rolling is completed, and when rolling of third time and later, the optimum learned control setting gorge and lead are set at each plug bar 16, and learned control is performed.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of a material short in length and to enhance the yield of material by reducing the allowance in pipe length and weight, by deciding whether or not the measured weight of a mother pipe or a stock is larger than an instruction weight, in performing a titled control basing on the weight of stock and the measured value of the length of pipe before and after rolling. CONSTITUTION:In a case that the measured weight WBM of a mother pipe or a stock is larger than the instruction weight of said pipe or stock, and the instruction length LT of a rolled pipe is obtained even when the wall-thickness of pipe is made to be an ordinary target value; draw rolling is performed by setting the target length LTA of a rolled pipe, basing on an equation I , so that the wall thickness of rolled pipe is constant. Further, in a case that the weight WBM is less than the weight WB, the lower limit of the wall thickness of rolled pipe is larger than a securable set value, and the length LT can be secured by reducing the wall thickness of rolled pipe; the draw rolling is performed basing on, for instance, an equation II. Furthermore, in a case that the weight WBM is less than said set value and the length LT can not be secured even when the wall thickness of rolled pipe is reduced; the draw rolling is performed by setting the length LTA basing on the equation I so that the wall thickness of rolled pipe is constant.
