    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin, which is excellent in resistance to hydrolysis and moldable into a transparent bottle or container by specifying a type of main dicarboxylic acid component and a type of compound used at a specified ratio among diol components. SOLUTION: A polyester resin comprises a compound of formula I as a main dicarboxylic acid component, and a compound of formula II present in not less than 50 mole % of diol components. In the formulas, R1 to R8 are such that any two of them independently represent a carboxy group, and the others independently represent hydrogen or the like; and R9 to R14 independently represent hydrogen or the like. The substituent other than the carboxy group of the dicarboxylic acid is preferably a small-sized substituent such as hydrogen, a methyl group or the like, and 2,2-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid is preferred. The diol component should preferably be made of a compound having three atoms between two OH groups, which constitute a main chain when a polyester is formed after condensation with a dicarboxylic acid component and wherein the atoms are made of carbon. 1,3-Propanediol is preferred. The resin is adapted for use as a drink bottle or the like, which does not suffer whitening by application of an alkaline detergent and for which washing and re-use are necessary.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To upgrade gas barrier properties, moldability and transparency by forming one or more layers each of a polyethylene terephthalate resin layer and a polytrimethylene naphthalate resin layer. SOLUTION: One or more layers each of a polyethylene terephthalate(PET) resin layer and a polytrimethylene naphthalate(PTN) resin layer are formed. PTN of such a kind as obtained especially from a 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid and a 1,3-propane diol, shows a rapid polymerization reaction and an outstanding resin physical property obtained. The weight ratio of the PTN resin layer of the polyester multilayer sheet is preferably 10 wt.% or more of the total polyester resin, which shows superb gas barrier properties. With regard to the manufacturing process of the polyester multilayer sheet, the PET resin and the PTN resin, for example, are supplied to a multilayer sheet molding machine having two or more melting/extruding machines and are extruded into sheet forms from a multilayer extrusion T-die after melting the resins at their respective melt temperatures and further, are quenched by a cooling drum to be molded.
