    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston valve carburetor providing stable fuel flow rate, without making a lower part of a piston valve to an inclined state, even if the lower part of the piston valve is attached by intake air negative pressure, and making sliding property of the piston valve excellent. SOLUTION: There is provided a guide 20 crossing an intake passage 2 in a direction crossing a sliding direction of the piston valve 5 at the downstream side of the piston valve 5. The guide 20 is also provided with a circular arc shaped guide surface 21 along an outer periphery of the piston valve 5 and a projection 22 projected and formed on an upper side along the outer periphery of the piston valve 5 by extending the guide surface 21. At an upper end of the projection 22, an inclined surface 23 inclined upward to an intake downstream side is formed to guide the piston valve 5 to the guide surface 21. As a result, a lower end of the piston valve 5 is smoothly led to the guide surface 1 of the guide 20 when the piston valve 5 is descended, an operation becomes excellent, and dispersion of fuel flow rate supplied from a fuel nozzle is suppressed without changing a relative position of a jet needle and the fuel nozzle.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve four problems in a conventional carburetor for a spark- ignition internal combustion engine: (1) bleed air lead-in instability, (2) clogging of dust in fuel, (3) the necessity of repeated work in an air-fuel ratio characteristic improvement method of a low speed system due to two-point air-fuel ratio adjustment, which are all related to a pilot screw, and (4) the aging effect of an air-fuel ratio characteristic caused by sludge sticking to an intake passage, which is related to the pilot screw or an air screw. SOLUTION: To solve the problems (1), (2), an air by-pass is provided for communicating the upper reaches and lower reaches of a throttle valve at least during idling, and a by-pass control throttle is provided for controlling the ventilation resistance of the air by-pass. To solve the problems (3), (4), the air by-pass is constituted not to communicate the upper reaches with lower reaches of the throttle valve at a certain fixed opening or more of the throttle valve.
